Requiem of the Mountain

As the Final Major Project of my university course, this epic sword-fighting animation was the culmination of everything I had learned. Being a part of a large team, the animation required careful planning and coordination.

Creating a Sword Fight

In addition to animation, other personal contributions included production, storyboarding, animatics, filming reference material, hard-surface modelling, rigging and hand drawn effects.

A challenging fight choreography

The character animation posed a significant challenge, particularly in developing the visual storytelling and fight choreography. In fact, the piece is not rendered in the Demo Reel to ensure the animation could be showcased clearly, without the interference of visual effects that might obscure the details.

With a mix of fast-paced action sequences, detailed lip-syncing, and acting moments that highlighted the character’s personality, balancing dynamic movement with expressive performance required careful planning and precision throughout the process.

Working in a group

I’m ultimately proud of my animation contributions and confident that I delivered on my key responsibilities. None of this would have been possible without the support and talent of my incredible team: Lucinda Austin, Will Dobson-Clark, and Jake Ho.
